We were asked to design the permanent dwelling of a family in a privileged site 21 acres area, extending over the west side of a hill with access from the hill top and sea view. Basic objective of the project was the division of a big house in volumes following the idea of architectural input around a basic core, as it is often observed throughout old small settlements over Greece.
This core is the gathering building where the family and friends come together. It is a high building with gabled roof, loft and a big fireplace combined with sea view. The kitchen and the parents and children units, like small houses within the house, extend around the central core, following the slopping of the terrain. Pergolas, arcades and semi-outdoor spaces create the intermediate space between the house and the yard that surrounds it. Stonework with the rare Kapandriti stone, organize the outdoor natural area of the rest of the site.
